Mentor Secretary/Clerical Program


The Mentor Secretary/Clerical Program is open to clerical personnel who meet the requirements and have school site experience in the following positions:

Mentors must have three consective years of acceptable annual evaluations, be currently working in the position for which they are to be a mentor, and have three years experience in the position for which they are to be a mentor.

A joint M-DCPS/UTD Mentor Secretary/Clerical Program Committee shall interview all candidates for the purpose of initial appointment and the creation of a pool of available mentors to be assigned by the committee as needed.

A mentor shall receive a $425.00 stipend to be paid at the completion of the one-year assignment. Those mentors who, for any reason, cannot complete an assignment or assume the duties and responsibilities of another mentor, shall receive a prorated stipend.

 

The mentor shall provide feedback, guidance, and practical job assistance to the mentee during the first calendar year the mentee holds that position.

Mentors and mentees shall arrange and make a minimum of three worksite visits to the mentee's and/or mentor's worksite for a minimum of six hours during the mentee's probationary period (90 days or 60 days depending upon the position). The time and duration of the work-site visits shall be mutually agreed upon by the mentor, mentee and both work-site administrators.

Mentors shall be required to attend training sessions or meetings related to mentoring and the Mentor Secretary/Clerical Program.
