Executive Training Program

The Executive Training Program (ETP) is designed to enhance the administrative skills of practicing assistant principals and interim principals by effectively preparing them for the principalship. Based on current research across the nation, this leadership development program provides participants the opportunity to assess their professional competencies and develop an individualized professional development plan to enhance the acquisition of specific professional/ technical skills and competencies.

Participants are assigned an administrative support team consisting of a "mentor principal," two summer school principals, an "associate mentor," and a Region Superintendent to serve as an advocate throughout the two years of the program. The on-the-job experiences combined with a series of inservice workshops serve to expand and hone the administrative skills of the participant.

After one successful year in the ETP, the participant is placed on the Eligible Candidate Roster to be interviewed for the principalship. If selected, the participant becomes an Interim Principal and continues in the ETP for an additional year. The participant is promoted to principal after serving successfully for one year as an interim principal and completing all ETP requirements.
