PROGRAM COMPONENTS

Entry Level Assessment and Demonstration of Competency

Each participant's entry level performance will be assessed when admitted to the ACP. This entry level assessment will be based on the participant's status with regards to the Educator Accomplished Practices (see Methods for Demonstration of the Florida Department of Education Accomplished Practices for Educators).

Participants will be required to demonstrate consistent patterns of acceptable behaviors in all twelve areas of the Accomplished Practices at the Pre-professional Level throughout the ACP (demonstration is not limited to initial observation). All previously-demonstrated Accomplished Practices may be addressed at any time during the ACP. Accomplished Practices that are comprehensive in nature must be comprehensively demonstrated. Accomplished Practices that are not readily demonstrable in a classroom setting will be assessed through a portfolio for purposes of recording demonstration of competency.

In order to ensure that Accomplished Practices are being consistently demonstrated, the PACES Observation instrument will be employed. The assessment indicators identified on the PACES instrument correlate fully with the Accomplished Practices. Summative evaluations of ACP participant performance will be conducted using the PACES Observation Form for Annual Evaluation (Appendix E).

ACP School-site Support Team - Delivery of Assistance

The ACP Support Team will design an Individual Professional Development Plan addressing all competencies not demonstrated through a consistent pattern of acceptable behaviors during the Entry Level Assessment, and may revise the plan throughout the ACP as participant behaviors warrant. The ACP Schedule will ensure consistent demonstration of Accomplished Practices.

Professional Development Components - Inservice Training

The professional development components designed for the ACP will assist participants in gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully demonstrate each of the Accomplished Practices. All participants in the ACP will be required to successfully complete professional development components to satisfy the following Accomplished Practices:

Accomplished Practice #5: Diversity

Accomplished Practice #6: Ethics

Accomplished Practice #7: Human Development and Learning

Accomplished Practice #11: Role of the Teacher

Accomplished Practice #12: Technology

Participants will be required to complete professional development components in the remaining competencies not successfully demonstrated during the initial entry level assessment or at any time during the ACP. Participants will be required to complete professional development components in competency areas not successfully demonstrated during the three program stages.

Professional development components designed by M-DCPS will address the Accomplished Practices at the pre-professional level. Successful completion of professional development components will be measured by consistent successful competency demonstration.
