On November 17, 2004, the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida authorized the Superintendent to enter into a contractual agreement with Florida International University to provide an opportunity for 60 elementary and secondary teachers to earn a Master of Science degree in Reading Education.

Teachers selected as Project READS-LE participants will be provided the opportunity to pursue a Masters of Science in Reading Education whose only costs are for textbooks, related materials, and incidental fees.
